Platyscelidae er en familie av plankton innenfor underorden Hyperiidea, som er en type såkalt «hyperide» amfipoder - en viktig hovedstamme av plankton i havene. Gruppens arter lever bare i saltvann. Hyperiidea-artene har normalt en kroppsbygning som avviker fra alle andre typer tanglopper.

Taksonomi

Gruppen ble beskrevet første gang av C. S. Bate i 1862. Taksonomien er komplisert og usikker, og plasseringen av de ulike lavere grupper har vært under regelmessig revisjon.^[1] Gruppens taksonomi ble siste gang fullstendig revidert i 2013.^[2] Systematikken nedenfor følger på lavere nivåer systematikken i WoRMS-databasen.^[3]
