Uto-aztekiske språk er en amerikansk indiansk språkfamilie. Den er en av de største (både i geografisk utbredelse og antall språk) språkfamiliene i Amerika. Språk i denne familien finner man fra Great Basin i det vestlige USA (Oregon, Idaho, Utah, California, Nevada, Arizona) og ned til Mexico. Delstaten Utah har fått navnet sitt fra det uto-aztekiske ute-folket. Klassisk nahuatl, som var aztekernes språk, og dets moderne etterkommere er uto-aztekiske språk.

Klassifisering

De uto-aztekiske språka deles vanligvis inn i to hovedgrupper: nordlige og sørlige. Denne inndelinga er ikke akseptert av alle lingvister; noen regner enten fra sju til ni hovedgrupper, mens andre deler inn den nordlige gruppa i fire uavhengige grupper, noe som sammen med den sørlige gir fem hovedgrupper.

I tillegg til språka i lista, er det flere titalls utdødde uto-aztekiske språk med liten eller ingen dokumentasjon.[1]
